Our Story

Our Story β€”
Midory Japanese Tea

From the misty hillsides of Kyoto to the mountain gardens of Yame β€” every cup carries the story of the farm it came from.

始

The Name

Inspired by η·‘ β€” Green in Japanese

Midory takes its name from η·‘ (midori), the Japanese word for green β€” the color of new growth, of forest light through leaves, of freshly whisked matcha in the bowl. We spell it differently to stand apart, but the spirit is the same: something rooted, alive, and distinctly Japanese.

We were founded on a simple conviction: that the slow, intentional ritual of Japanese tea deserves a place in modern daily life. Not as a trend, not as a health supplement β€” but as a practice. A moment of clarity before the day begins, or a quiet return to yourself at its end.

What We Do

We curate and resell authentic Japanese teas β€” farm by farm

🏑

Farm-Named Sourcing

Every tea we carry is traceable to a specific farm and grower. We don't deal in anonymous blends.

🀝

Trusted Partners

We work with Yunomi.life and other trusted Japan-based suppliers to source teas with verified provenance.

🌏

Japan-Wide Reach

Our collection spans Japan's finest tea-growing regions β€” Kyoto, Shizuoka, Fukuoka, and beyond.

Sourcing Philosophy

Every tea has an address

We believe great tea begins with a specific place β€” a hillside, a family, a season. Our sourcing philosophy is built around traceability and real provenance, not generic origin labels.

δΊ¬

Kyoto & Wazuka

The heartland of Japanese tea culture. Wazuka Valley in southern Kyoto produces some of Japan's most sought-after shade-grown teas, including the ceremonial matcha we carry.

静

Shizuoka & Fujieda

Japan's largest tea-growing prefecture. The Kinezuka family's NaturaliTea cooperative in Fujieda produces our fukamushi sencha β€” lightly deep-steamed, intensely green.

Yame, Fukuoka

Nestled in the mountains of Kyushu, Yame is famed for its gyokuro. The Harashima family's Chiyonoen garden uses traditional shelf-and-straw shading β€” unchanged for generations.
