About this tea
Single-origin gyokuro from Chiyonoen Tea Garden in Yabe Village, Yame, Fukuoka. Husband-and-wife growers Masashi and Eri Harashima shade the bushes with a traditional shelf-and-straw covering for about 20 days before the spring harvest, building the deep umami and sweetness Yame gyokuro is known for. Made from tea plants originally planted in 1968 at roughly 600m elevation, using Yabukita and Okumidori cultivars. Expect concentrated umami, soft sweetness, savory broth, and a gentle marine finish. Brew 4-5g in small cups at 50-60C for 60-90 seconds; re-steep gently for a second infusion.
